JAPAN TOUR-DAY 6, KYOTO, Club METRO
I must admit, I slept pretty well in that creepy hotel in Nagoya. No light, no smoke, no one. I made alittle audio set up with my iPod and just moved in. The gig at Tokuzo went well, the opening act had a strange dancer-very cool movements, very ominous, kinda referenced butoh.
The show was a great set with Marshall blowing everyone's bean with his little casiotone. We all got down to playin' some heavy avant-garde, breaking out from time to time and gettin very lyrical. Beauty and nature. I told Marshall and Bob to keep the opening film "The Green Lion" acoustic, no electronics, get into traditional sounds in a town of tradition and tranquil reflection. After the last film, Marshall packs another suprise. He leans into me in the black silence-the audience doesn't know what to do, staff doesn't know whether to bring up the lights-Marshall says, "Jamie, hit 'em with a space chord!" So we hit 'em and hit 'em good, mouths dropped and was very beautiful. Great crowd! Packed. Was introduced to a young woman from Austrailia who had very positive things to say about the performance. Told me that our performance is really quite rare in Japan, when the audience caught our show they really felt that they were getting a unique experience. The tour CDs have been selling very well!
If anyone wants the signed (me, Marshall and Robert) limited edition Japan Tour 2006 just send me an email soloriens@yahoo.com, or respond here with your email. $18 USD postage included. Japan 2000Y or 20EUROS. Dig it before they are gone.
We got to the hotel pretty quick and the 3 of us got to work on laundry. Mike brought us some "Japanese hamburgers", delicious maranated patty with sauce, no bread and pork soup. Very tasty and hit the spot right on. Got the laundry done-I conked out though and Bob brought me the rest of my now clean clothes. Bed came off and on while watching a Robert Downey Jr/Molly Ringwald flick-terrible in any language.
Trip to the hotel and get some sleep.
